Nicole Sofia Rodriguez Neufeld

Nicole S. Rodriguez Neufeld is a doctoral researcher at Stockholm University’s Department of Sociology. Her qualitative doctoral research explores how violence and crime shape sexual and reproductive health in Mexico, with a focus on indigenous women’s experiences of maternity care, pregnancy, and childbirth. Her doctoral research is part of a larger socio-demographic project – Sexual and Reproductive Outcomes of Violent Crime in Mexico – funded by the ERC Starting Grant and led by Dr. Signe Svallfors. She has worked in public health research and programming for improved maternal and child health in various global contexts, including topics such as patient autonomy during childbirth in Benin, infant nutrition in Senegal, and breastfeeding customs in Mexico. Nicole’s research interests include respectful maternity care, global sexual and reproductive health and rights, Mexican traditional midwifery, and arts-based research methods.
